Donna Stewart, The Reading Network
I am committed to using technology to increase access to reading and special education services by qualified teachers to students who will benefit from support and additional instruction. Far too many struggling readers, are having difficulty getting the help they need. Private reading instruction from a distance removes this barrier.
My career highlights include having served as a Vice-Principal, Principal-Liaison and Principal for Bluewater District School Board. I am an Ontario certified teacher, with Reading Specialist and Special Education Specialist, qualifications. I am thrilled to having the opportunity to obtain additional training in Orton-Gillingham methods of multi-sensory instruction in reading this year, and am bringing that new knowledge to my practice. I was a member of a twelve educator team that opened four technology centers for intermediate students, and have K-12 teaching experience.
I am a published author of children’s literature, adult fiction and poetry and publish a blog. I hold a B.A. from the University of Waterloo, a B.Ed. from University of Western Ontario and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Technology-Based Learning from Athabasca University. A lover of summer water sports, snowy winter ski trails and the environment, I make my home on the Bruce Peninsula, Ontario on the shores of Lake Huron.
As I am no stranger to rural living and winter roads, I see e-learning as an essential part of increasing access to education for those in remote, rural and isolated locations in Canada and around the world, for any families who wish to obtain private Special Education services.
If you are concerned about your child’s reading progress and would like to discuss my services, please email me or phone, and I’ll be happy to chat.
